Welcome to my Little Big Welt!

Hello, I’m Bettina and I love to travel.

Like so many others I only have limited time to explore the world, I work full time and only get a few weeks annual leave a year. So, my holiday time is precious and I want to make sure every minute counts.

My husband Steve is my partner in crime and fortunately (almost) always on board with my wacky holiday ideas, or at least easily persuaded.

Our trips are about seeing the world, new experiences, a touch of adventure and a little rest. I’m happy to sleep on a train every once in a while, but I also appreciate a freshly made bed and late night room service. Like with everything in life, it’s all about balance.

Originally from Germany, I’ve been fortunate enough to find a second home in the UK, having lived here for over 10 years. My German heritage possibly shines through somewhat in my love of planning – planning a tour is almost as much fun as going on a trip!

In 2017, we’ve gained a new travel companion, our daughter Rosalin. Her arrival has inevitably led to a slightly different approach to travel, but certainly no less adventure!

The inspiration for the Little Big Welt blog comes from the countless travel sites I’ve read and followed over the years, especially with regards to family travel. Other travellers’ experiences and trip reports are a vital resource for my holiday research, so here are my five pence worth in the hope that it might help someone else with their next adventure.

I hope to be informative but also encourage other families to create their own independent, tailor-made tour. Hopefully I can also offer some reassurance to those aspiring travellers out there who are unsure about that trip to India, the idea of driving through South Africa or taking a baby to Japan. Go for it! Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can!

Following the birth of our son Albert we are now travelling as as family of four! Born in 2020, at the height of the Covid pandemic, he had to wait almost two years for his first trip – but I’m glad to say he’s learning fast!

Thank you for visiting and please get in touch with any thoughts you may have.
