Den Haag's been one of the most surprising cities Den Haag's been one of the most surprising cities I've visited in a long time. A wonderful pace of life, art everywhere, beautiful architecture, lots of green spaces and quirky little neighbourhoods. Overall this place feels so calm, quiet and relaxed, not at all like a major city. The Dutch passion for cycling over driving is truly seen and felt.

Colonia del Sacramento, the historic coastal town Colonia del Sacramento, the historic coastal town facing Buenos Aires on the other side of the Rio de la Plata, was first founded in 1680 and has changed hands many times since. Now a UNESCO world heritage site, the old town of Colonia is a popular entry point for tourists - thanks to a quick 50 min ferry ride from BA - and a wonderful introduction to Uruguay and its laid back way of life.
